The responsibilities of the NHTSA Investigations Lead include but not limited to:
- Intake and coordinate responses to formal and informal investigations, ensuring organized handling and tracking of cases
- Assign and monitor tasks across team members to ensure efficient completion of investigative activities
- Draft and prepare initial assessments, analyses, and responses to NHTSA inquiries and investigations
- Maintain investigation documentation within DAPIS and shared drives for compliance and accessibility
- Conduct technical investigations into vehicle systems and components based on regulatory requests
- Interface with NHTSA, including facilitating regular touchpoint meetings with the ODI team to maintain open communication
- Gather and analyze internal data sources (warranty, service history, field reports, engineering records) to identify relevant information for investigations
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, Mopar, and dealers to collect technical documents and field evidence supporting investigations
- Support the reviewing of daily incident reports for crashes involving Level 2+ ADAS vehicles and report responsive allegations under ADAS Standing General Orders and complete necessary reporting
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university; other engineering degrees or related technical degrees with combined experience may be considered
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in cross functional Vehicle Engineering roles
- Detailed understanding of vehicle integration, systems, and validation process
- Knowledge of multiple automotive systems including body, chassis, powertrain and electrical
- Cross functional knowledge of system interactions and vehicle integration
- Passion for excellence, drive for deliver in the presence of obstacles and litigation
- Ability to develop strategic options working with both business and technical assumptions
- Ability to understand and break down complex issues
- Ability to clearly communicate both written and verbal to management, engineering, internal and external stakeholders and regulators
- Ability to lead a team of engineers and legal discovery groups in the execution of deliverables on a condensed time line
