The Hybrid Calibration Engineer will be responsible for HCP calibration development, progressing from Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) simulators and powertrain dynamometers to mule vehicles and production for Stellantis’ s next-generation electrified powertrains. This role focuses on applying and optimizing control systems to support hybrid and electric vehicle production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct HCP calibration reviews with calibration teams and support Center of Excellence (COE) meetings.
- Assist calibration teams with daily activities and issue resolution.
- Review new calibrations and software change requests (SWCRs) with lead calibrators and controls engineers to ensure accuracy.
- Lead HIL and dynamometer commissioning for new powertrain architectures.
- Collaborate with HCP controls teams to ensure feature functionality and efficiency.
- Provide training for new calibration engineers and others on hybrid vehicle operation and controls.
- Support development test trips and report key findings to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to best practices through COE teams.
- Assist calibration teams with system issue resolution (e.g., GIMS, PITS).
The ideal candidate will be a team player, prioritizing team accomplishments over individual achievements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electrified powertrain calibration or embedded controls (MHEV, BEV, or Hybrid).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- High analytical ability and creativity.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Experience executing disciplined test plans to ensure high-quality calibrations.
- Strong understanding of powertrain systems.
- Demonstrated leadership presence, with the ability to engage management to achieve project objectives.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in electrified propulsion.
- Experience with control system and calibration development tools (e.g., MATLAB Simulink, INCA, CANape, CANoe).
- Experience with calibration management and release tools (e.g., AVL Creta).
- Experience in powertrain control algorithm development, on-board diagnostics (OBD), and embedded software.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals and its interface with hybrid systems.
